Something about a good reed that makes the dust of the soul wash away. A responsive reed just takes the breath you give it and makes tone without a fuss. It goes where you want it to go, cheerfully. A good reed makes you sound like a better musician than you are... or maybe just the musician that you're supposed to be.
A shame, really, that reeds have a mortal life. But then, everything worthwhile must, I suppose.
